  • Is a metal roof noisy when it rains? Answer
    • A study conducted by the Acoustic Group found that the sound from a metal roof was not greater than that of a conventional asphalt roof. With Paramount's four -way locking and fastening system and the proper underlay your Paramount roof will not contribute to additional noise.

  • How does the cost of a Paramount metal roof compare to other roofs? Answer
    • Although Paramount’s roofing system may cost more initially your metal roof will never need to be replaced and therefore will be less expensive over the life of your home. Common asphalt shingles have a 10-15 year life span and will need to be replaced periodically and thus will be more expensive over time.

  • Can a metal roof be damaged by hail? Answer
    • Paramount's premium roofing is designed to withstand the impact of most hail storms. Paramount's double embossed panels will eliminate damage that might be caused by hail. Paramount Shingles are covered by a hail protection warranty and approved by many insurance companies for reduced homeowners insurance rates.

  • Can Paramount metal alloy shingles reduce my energy bills? Answer
    • The metal used in the manufacturing of Paramount Shingles will reflect the majority of the rays from the sun and therefore minimizes any heat build-up in your attic. This means that you will actually have a cooler attic when combined with proper ventilation. The clear coat on the inside of the panels will moderate the temperature inside the home allowing for more efficient heating and cooling depending on the season.

  • How long should I expect my Paramount roof to last? Answer
    • Paramount's Kynar 500 coating in combination with our high tech metal alloy panels will be the last roofing system that you will ever buy. Paramount Shingles were designed to withstand the extreme cold of the northern regions and the blistering heat of the southern states. Paramount Shingles carry a Lifetime Non-Depreciating Warranty.

  • Can I install Paramount Shingles over my existing roof? Answer
    • Yes, in most cases. Paramount Shingles weigh only 70 pounds per 100 square feet, which is about one-fifth the weight of conventional asphalt shingles. This means that you won’t have to tear off the old roof thus saving you money on labour and disposal. Your pocketbook and the environment will thank you.

  • Why did our last asphalt last 18 years and my new one only 11 years? Answer
    • Not too long ago, asphalt shingles contained asbestos with a cloth backing. This gave the shingle its longevity. Since 1995 asbestos has been banned, as it is a health hazard. As a substitute paper filler and fiberglass strands have replace the asbestos and cloth, resulting in premature failing of asphalt shingles. A limited 10-12 years for asphalt shingles in not uncommon regardless of its alleged 30 or 40 year labeling.

  • Why is it that after a strong wind I'm finding pieces of my shingles around the yard? Answer
    • When asbestos use in shingle manufacturing was banned, manufacturers added fiberglass strands to the paper baking. This helped shingles to last a bit longer but it also caused them to be brittle, especially in cold or windy conditions. You most likely have asphalt/fiberglass shingles.

  • Is the large temperature difference between upstairs and downstairs due to poor insulation or poor venting? Answer
    • The difference in temperature is not uncommon, but a huge difference is caused by an attic space that is holding too much heat due to a combination of poor ventilation and inefficient asphalt shingles absorbing heat. Asphalt tends to hold onto heat and slowly releases it throughout the evening causing your air conditioner to keep working well into the night. Our Energy Star shingles will reduce and in most cases eliminate this issue.
